Teddi Mellencamp shared a birthday message for estranged husband Edwin Arroyave as he turned 48 on Saturday, April 19.
“Happy birthday Edwin! No matter where life takes us I know we’re both proud of what we’ve created for the kiddos,” Mellencamp, 43, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, April 19.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum posted a photo of herself and Arroyave posing with their family. The former couple share three children — Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, 5 — and Mellencamp is also a stepmother to Arroyave’s 15-year-old daughter Bella.
Mellencamp announced in November 2024 that, after a “great deal of care and consideration,” she was divorcing Arroyave after 13 years of marriage.
“My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “Making a public statement is not something I wanted to do, but in an effort to protect my family from undue speculation and rumors, I felt being open, honest and vulnerable was the best path forward.”
Mellencamp has been battling a myriad of health issues since confirming in October 2022 that she had stage II melanoma, a type of skin cancer. She subsequently learned that the disease had advanced to stage IV melanoma, which metastasized to her lungs and brain.
When Mellencamp underwent surgery in February 2025, Arroyave told his Instagram followers that he was relying on “faith” to get himself and his children through his estranged wife’s health crisis.

“When you really think about faith, faith is just a projection of the most positive thing for the future, versus the opposite, is fear,” he told Instagram followers. “Fear is the projection of the worst possible thing for the future.”
“So when you think about it, they both haven’t happened yet,” he continued. “It’s up to you if you’re going to choose to be positive or you’re going to choose to be negative. And it takes the same amount of mental energy to focus on failure than it does to focus on success. So I’ve always chosen faith no matter what I feel like, no matter what it looks like, I choose faith.”
Earlier in April, Arroyave offered an update on how his family was coping with Mellencamp’s brave fight for her life.
“No matter what, I will always love Teddy and she’s been a big part of my life,” Arroyave, 47, revealed on “The Eds” podcast on April 3 . “And I just like taking care of people, it’s just what I do. So it wasn’t even like a question, it was reflexive. And the main thing is, again, getting her to a point where she felt confident, she felt like she wasn’t alone.”
This week, Mellencamp defended her father, legendary singer-songwriter John Mellencamp, after he made a joke to her about joining their family mausoleum.

“My dad knows that I need like, some comedy to this,” Mellencamp explained on the Friday, April 18 episode of the “Diamonds in the Rough” podcast.
She went on, “His next quote or his next thing was like, all right, now we actually really do have to get talking serious, like we need to talk about your will and like your living trust and like, do the things we need to do, you know.”
Mellencamp clarified that her father was simply trying to bring levity to a difficult moment as he’d supported her throughout her cancer journey.
