Three months after Joel’s murder, Ellie is still haunted by his death and by her desire for revenge. Ellie’s friend and potential lover, Dina, told her that she remembers the names of everyone who took part in the attack on Joel, including Abby. More importantly, Dina was able to learn that they were all part of the Washington Liberation Front, a group that operates out of Seattle.
Ellie hoped that the residents of Jackson would be moved to approve a mission to pursue Abby and her friends in the WLF as justice for Joel’s death. But despite her impassioned pleas, Ellie’s appeal was rejected. Ellie resigned herself to going alone, but Dina surprised her by coming with her. Dina was also clearly more prepared for a long trip than Ellie was, but less so when it came to witnessing the horrors of the outside world. The two young women made it to Seattle, but they have no idea what’s waiting for them in the city.
