Zoe Kravitz Reveals Her Verdict on Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl’

We need to wait another few weeks until Taylor Swift’s 12th studio album drops, but her friend Zoë Kravitz is already singing its praises.

Kravitz, 36, said during an interview with Extra, published on Sunday, August 17, that she’s “heard bits of” The Life of a Showgirl, scheduled to be released on October 3, before offering her verdict.

“It’s fantastic, of course. No skips,” the actress told the outlet while seated beside Austin Butler as they carried out promotional duties for their new film Caught Stealing.

The outlet’s interviewer responded to Kravitz’s take with, “No skips? That’s rare,” to which Kravitz replied, “For her, it’s not.”

Why Zoe Kravitz and Mom Lisa Bonet ‘Destroyed’ Taylor Swift’s Bathroom

Swift, 35, unveiled the cover artwork, limited-edition versions and track list for The Life of a Showgirl during her August 12 appearance on boyfriend Travis Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast.

Kelce, 35, said during the appearance that the album is “all bangers” as Swift revealed that she wrote her new music while staging her 21-month, world-wide Eras Tour. The big reveal came after Swift dropped several Easter eggs in the leadup, spanning a Spotify playlist loaded with lyrical teasers and an orange color scheme across her (and external) socials and website.

Kravitz was one of the first of Swift’s friends to have revealed that she’s listened to the new music. Her comments arrived less than a week after she spoke publicly about Swift during an appearance on the Tuesday, August 12, episode of Late Night With Seth Myers.

During Kravitz’s late night interview, she detailed how “kind” Swift was in letting Kravitz and her mom, Lisa Bonet, stay at Swift’s Los Angeles home during the California wildfire emergency in January.

The pop star’s generous gesture resulted in a surprising final day ordeal that involved Bonet, 57, losing her pet snake Orpheus inside Swift’s house.

“I was kind of going around and cleaning up, and I’m downstairs, and she’s upstairs, and my phone rings. It’s my mom. I’m like, ‘That’s weird because we’re in the same house,’” Kravitz told Myers, 51. “I answer the phone and she goes, ‘Hi,’ and I’m like, ‘Your voice is super high.’ And she’s like, ‘I’m in a little bit of a pickle. Can you come upstairs?’ I go upstairs and the bathroom door is closed, so I open the bathroom door, and she’s, like, crouched in the corner in this weird way.”

Kravitz continued, “I’m like, ‘What’s going on, dude?’ And she’s like, ‘So … I was washing my face and I had Orpheus, and I just put her down for a second, closed the door, and she found this little hole in the corner.’”

The “Blink Twice” director noted that Swift’s house manager informed Swift of the lost snake but not before Swift’s bathroom was “destroyed” through the group’s attempts to locate it.

Taylor Swift and Zoe Kravitz’s Friendship Timeline: Everything to Know

Kravitz and Swift’s friendship goes back beyond 2016 when the pair were spotted getting dinner together in New York City. Kravitz spoke highly of her pal during an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon in August 2024.

“After she performs for however many thousands of people, she just comes over after and we, like, drink some wine, eat a burger, and hang out,” Kravitz said at the time. “You would just never know that she’d just performed at Wembley [Stadium].”
